Teeth Whitening

Whitening. Dental care. healthy woman white teeth.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is used to remove extrinsic / intrinsic stains from teeth and provided a quick esthetic improvement of color of teeth. There are two common methods of teeth whitening:

  1. In-Office Teeth Whitening.
  2. At home Teeth Whitening using customized trays made at your dental office (Home Whitening).

In Office Teeth Whitening

There are many in office teeth whitening products available. Laser teeth whitening products are also available which use Ultraviolet light to activate Whitening gel after application of gel on teeth. Zoom whitening is one of the products available which is popular. In office teeth whitening takes about 1 hour in office and it whitens a few shades. You can use multiple appointments for teeth whitening as long as your teeth are not sensitive to whitening. It is important stay away from dark foods and beverages for about 48-72 hrs after in office whitening.

Home Teeth Whitening

Home teeth whitening requires fabrication of a custom tray. First, a measurement of teeth is taken and then a custom tray is made. Tray is used along with home whitening gel (can be purchased from our office). You can wear tray with gel at home during day or night time. There are few precautions to be taken during and you must consult your dentist prior to using home bleaching trays and gel.

For best whitening results, it is recommended that you should get both In-office teeth whitening (first) and then maintain with home whitening system. Dr. Kumar can evaluate if your a good candidate for in-office and/or home whitening.
